Board and commission positions represent an opportunity for interested residents of Marshall to become more involved in local government activities. Interested residents can obtain additional information and applications from the City Administrator's Office at the Municipal Building, 344 West Main Street, Marshall, MN. Call 507-537-6760 or visit the following website:
http://www.marshallmn.com. The completed application should be returned to City Hall. Appointments will be made by the Mayor and City Council as set forth in policy statements.

Airport Commission
The Airport Commission meets on the 1st Tuesday of every month at 4:30 p.m. at the Southwest Minnesota Regional Airport-Marshall/Ryan Field (Arrival/Departure Building-Conference Room).

Cable Commission
The Cable Commission meets the 2nd Monday of each month at 12:00 noon at the Marshall-Lyon County Library Board Room. The Cable Commission is comprised of five members and once Council Liaison. Appointments for this commission begin their three-year term on June 1st. Each member of this commission is eligible to serve two consecutive terms.

Charter Commission
The Charter Commission meets "At Call". The Charter Commission is comprised of two groups totaling up to 15 individuals (one of which is a Councilmember). Each group is a four-year term and appointments are made by the district judges, not be the City and begin in December.

Community Services Advisory Board
The Community Services Advisory Board meets on the 1st Wednesday of every month at 5:00 p.m. at City Hall-Minnesota Room (Lower Level). The Community Services Advisory Board is comprised of ten members at large + one Marshall Public School Board Member + one Marshall Public High School Student + one Councilmember - totaling 13 members. Appointments for this board begin their three-year term on March 1st. Each member of this commission is eligible to serve two consecutive terms.

Economic Development Authority
The Economic Development Authority meets on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at 11:30 a.m. at the Landmark Bistro. The Economic Development Authority is comprised of five members at large and two Councilmembers. Appointments for this board begin their six-year term on June 1st. Each member of this commission is eligible to serve two consecutive terms.

Hospital Board
The Hospital Board meets on the 3rd Monday of every month at 4:00 p.m. at the Weiner Memorial Medical Center Conference Room. The Hospital Board is comprised of seven members and one Council Liaison. Appointments for this board begin their five-year term on June 1st. Each member of this commission is eligible to serve two consecutive terms.

Human Rights Commission
The Human Rights Commission meets on the 4th Monday of every month at 6:00 p.m. at the Weiner Memorial Medical Center-Private Dining Rooms. The Human Rights Commission is comprised of five members and one Council Liaison. Appointments for this commission begin their three-year term on June 1st. Each member of this commission is eligible to serve two consecutive terms.

Library Board
The Library Board meets on the 2nd Monday of every month at 4:00 p.m. at the Marshall-Lyon County Library Board Room. The Library Board is comprised of five members at large + two members from the County + one County Board Commissioner + one Councilmember - totaling nine members. Appointments (at large) for this board begin their three-year term on January 1st. These five members are eligible to serve two consecutive terms.

Planning Commission
The Planning Commission meets on the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall-Council Chambers (Upper Level). The Planning Commission is comprised of seven members and one Council Liaison. Appointments for this commission begin their three-year term on June 1st. Each member of this commission is eligible to serve two consecutive terms.

When planning and zoning applications are received from the orderly annexation area of the city, two township representatives serve as full voting members on the Marshall Planning Commission.

The Police Civil Service Commission meets "At Call". The Police Civil Service Commission is comprised of three members and one Council Liaison. Appointments for this commission begin their three-year term on June 1st. Each member of this commission is eligible to serve two consecutive terms.

The Senior Citizen Center Commission meets on the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 12:00 noon at the Adult Community Center. The Senior Citizen Center Commission is comprised of four members at large + two members from the Marshall Area Senior Center (M.A.S.C.) + one Councilmember -totaling seven members. Appointments for this commission begin their three-year term on May 1st. Each member of this commission is eligible to serve two consecutive terms.
